The main material for this history has been derived from the Society's minute books of its Management Committee, General Meetings and Treasurer's Account books, etc. These appear to be complete except for the minutes of the Annual General Meetings from 1934-67 and are deposited in the Norfolk and Norwich Records Office and in the office of the Society's Assistant Secretary.

Biographical details of members of the Society have been obtained from standard sources and information on other contempor-ary benevolent medical societies from letters and pamphlets kindly provided by their officers.
