viii. Auditors
The office of auditor dates from 1845 and was held by the Treasurer until1851. In 1852-1855 A. Dalrymple was appointed Auditor, but he retired from surgical practice on grounds of ill-health in 1853 and died 10 years later. No further appointment is recorded until 1907.
Since 1923, chartered accountants have replaced members of the Society as Auditors.
